It is said that the tradition of creating paintings with floral decorations was born in the Vatican basilica in the 17th century by Benedetto Drei and his son Pietro who, on the occasion of the feast of Peter and Paul, patron saints of Rome, used leafed and chopped flowers to emulate the mosaic works. The idea of creating works with floral motifs was very popular and spread over the centuries until reaching Sicily where in 1980 the meeting of the artists from Neto and a Roman artist from Genzano generated the birth of the first flower display which officially valorised the city of Noto.

As per tradition, on Thursday night in via Nicolaci, you can observe the birth of this blanket of flowers, of a thousand petals and plant products that will fill the path of shapes previously created by the Neto artists who, unlike other years, will be protagonists together to a group of Chinese artists as this year the title of the flower display will be “China in bloom, the silk road”.

In these four days of celebration from 18 to 20 May, culture lovers will be able to admire the beautiful baroque pearls and the exhibitions that will wind through the streets of the city while food and entertainment lovers will be able to attend the various musical shows and delight the their palates to the various culinary tastings typical of our splendid Sicily.
